SISA GYMNASTICS

During Term 1, students in Years 3-6 have been enjoying their participation in the Gymnastics Sport in Schools Australia program. This program is being conducted by highly-trained sports teachers with Gymnastics Australia coaching qualifications, using a range of specialised equipment, and runs for 30 minutes each Thursday. The program has enabled the compulsory Gymnastics strand of the PDHPE Syllabus to be taught in a way that maximises our students’ safety and engagement.

In gymnastics students learn to confidently manage their bodies in a variety of situations. The movement abilities developed in a gymnastics program are fundamental to movement in general and help prepare students for many other physical activities. As you will see from the photos that follow, our students have enjoyed challenging themselves to improve their fundamental movement skills.
