Microsoft Showcase School

Baulkham Hills North Public School is proud to partner with Microsoft Australia in the design and delivery of an Innovation Program to our Stage 3 students. Our school is the first primary school in Australia to become a Microsoft Showcase school.

The Microsoft Showcase Schools Program is an opportunity to engage with Microsoft and like-minded school leaders around the world, to deepen and expand education transformation using the Education Transformation Framework.

Showcase Schools create student-centered, immersive and inclusive experiences that inspire lifelong learning, stimulating development of essential future-ready skills so that students are empowered to achieve more.

Our school has renovated a large learning area, transforming it into an Innovation Centre.  In this Centre, our students immerse themselves each week in learning to innovate and solve problems faced by our world at the local, national, or global level, doing so through the lens of the 2030 UN Sustainable Goals.

Microsoft Australia have donated approximately $120,000 towards professional learning for staff as part of our collaboration, and Hewlett Packard Australia have generously donated $200,000 in high-end devices for student and staff.

Our students are extremely fortunate to have access to cutting-edge technology devices and applications in leveraging their learning and facilitating the development of 21st century learning fluencies.

Joining this program enables networking between high performing schools across the globe, to further enhance and optimise the integration of technology in learning. While BHNPS is at the beginning of our journey, there is much to look forward to as we progress towards joining the Showcase School Network.

A competition was held to name the Centre, where our Year 4 and 5 students had to investigate a famous innovator and promote using their name for our Centre. The winning entry was the Dr Jordan Nguyen Innovation Centre. The lucky winner (pictured) received a high-end laptop computer donated by Hewlett Packard Australia.

Dr Nguyen is a young Vietnamese-Australian bio-medical engineer and inventor, whose achievements include creating a mind-controlled wheelchair, and whose technological innovations are targeted at improving the lives of those living with physical disabilities. He is also an ex-student of Baulkham Hills North Public School.

Dr Nguyen is proud to collaborate with our school. He says "May this Innovation Centre inspire a generation of ambitious students, committed to seeing our world step consciously and creatively into a better future."
